MOUNT MERRION

This project involved a significant renovation to a dormer bungalow together with a new rear dining extension on ground level. Our clients, who had been living in Australia for a decade, purchased the property with a plan to relocate back to Ireland with their growing family.

Their taste in design echoed the style of architecture and interiors evident down under, with fresh and breezy interiors and a strong connection to outdoors /outdoor living being top of the list. The house was extended on ground floor to accommodate a bright dining area with a deep window seat to enjoy the garden and the afternoon sun. A large feature rooflight was incorporated to bring natural light deep into the floor plan. The interior palette is neutral with an emphasis on whitewashed oak cabinetry and curved forms within the alcove shelving, cabinet hardware and joinery, which provides a softness to the airy feel of the open plan space.
