HILLSIDE

This project involved the transformation of an existing bungalow through thoughtful renovation and the addition of a striking two-storey extension clad in charred larch. The extension houses an open-plan living area on the ground floor and a serene master suite on the first floor.

 

The two volumes are seamlessly connected by a glazed link, creating a harmonious balance between the old and the new. Inside the bungalow, the layout was reconfigured to include a widened entrance hall that offers a direct connection to the rear garden, enhancing the flow and functionality of the space.

 

A carefully designed staircase leads to the private master suite, where expansive views of the treetops and surrounding landscape provide a tranquil retreat. This project is a celebration of materiality and connection to nature, blending innovative design with a respect for the existing structure.
