GRIFFITH AVENUE

Located on tree-lined Griffith Avenue, this red brick dwelling required significant renovation. The original front door, located on the gable, was uninviting and the layout and circulation were confusing due to several old extensions.

The design intent involved peeling back the property and retaining the original reception rooms as a new guest suite. A new light filled side extension was required to relocate the front door to face the avenue and in turn, creating direct circulation to the rear. A seamless transition and connection to the outdoors is achieved with the introduction of a bifold kitchen window linking inside & outside kitchens, a triple slider and a circular brick portal capturing a snapshot view of the mature greenery beyond.
